PERSPECTIVE QUANTUM #7

L'ISEQ, INTRIQ, COPL, Québec Quantique, Optonique et NUMANA invite you on Wednesday, January 12 at 10:00 a.m. to the 7th webinar of the Perspective Quantum series for a return on the highlights for the quantum industry from the last edition of Inside Quantum Technology (IQT) in early November.

For this feedback, we will have four speakers: Christopher Bishop from Inside Quantum Technology (IQT), Yoann Jestin from Ki3 Photonics, Chloé Archamblault from Anyons Sytems and Félix Beaudouin from Nanoacademic Technologies.

Speakers:

Christopher Bishop, Inside quantum Technology,

Christopher Bishop is a technology futurist, TEDx speaker, LinkedIn Learning instructor and former IBMer. He is passionate about the power of emerging technologies to positively transform business and culture, especially quantum information science.
Chris has performed the role of Master of Ceremonies at the past four Inside Quantum Technology virtual events as well as the most recent hybrid version held in New York City. He also moderated a panel on “Building a Quantum-competent Workforce.”
In his twice a month podcast called the Quantum Tech Pod, Chris interviews C-suite executives at leading quantum companies. It is available on Apple Music and Spotify.
He is also a member of the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C) and participates in the Workforce Technology Advisory Committee.
Chris is in demand as a quantum event moderator and panelist and has done numerous engagements including Quantum London’s “The People That Keep The Qubits Spinning” (June 2021), “Quantum AI and ML” for Transform Industry (Sept 2021), the launch of the Quantum Strategy Institute (Sept 2021) and Washington D.C Quantum Meetups (Oct and Nov 2021).

Dr. Yoann Jestin, CEO and Co-Founder of Ki3 Photonics Technologies (incorporated 2014)

Dr. Yoann Jestin received his Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Maine (France) and has been a professional researcher since 2002. He has specialist experience in the realization of systems and devices for telecommunications applications, including special optical fibers and integrated optics. His research and development work has produced over 70 scientific papers and 15 patents to date, highlighting his breakthroughs at globally-renowned international conferences (e.g., CLEO).
Dr. Jestin is also an accomplished entrepreneur: the prior CTO at OSCP Motion Sensing, and (with Ki3 Photonics) the graduate of the Creative Destruction Lab program (2021 Cohort), Centech Acceleration program (2021 Cohort). He has also recently been accepted to the prestigious Centech Propulsion program. An excellent communicator of complex technical concepts to business audiences, Dr. Jestin is a prize-winner in the SPIE Startup Challenge and IBM Quantum Boot Camp, among others.
As CEO, Dr. Jestin always tries to strengthen the research to commercialization gap with cutting edge products. Through Ki3 Photonics, he now aims to create a hub of excellence in quantum communications, cybersecurity, by attracting leaders of the field in his company (including Marconi, Vanier, and Marie Curie prize fellows).

Chloé Archambault, Ph.D Quantum scientist, Anyon Systems

Anyon Systems is a Montreal-based manufacturer of superconducting quantum computers. Chloé holds a bachelor's and a master’s degree in Engineering Physics from Polytechnique Montreal with a specialization in computational chemistry. After graduating, she built on her computational skills while working on finite element electromagnetics simulations at Infolytica Corporation (now part of Siemens). Then, from 2014 to 2018, she worked for Univalor, the technology transfer firm that was then responsible for commercializing the inventions developed at the University of Montreal, where she gained experience in intellectual property and business development. As part of the Quantum Hardware team at Anyon since 2019, she designs, simulates, characterises and calibrates Anyon's quantum processors. She is also responsible for managing the company's intellectual property and partnerships.

Félix Beaudoin, Ph. D, Directeur Technologie Quantique, Nanoacademic Technologies
Félix Beaudoin is a theoretical physicist specialized in modelling hardware used to implement quantum technologies. He obtained his M. Sc. from Université de Sherbrooke on the physics of superconducting-qubit devices under the supervision of Prof. Alexandre Blais, followed by a Ph. D. from McGill University on the physics of spin qubits under the supervision of Prof. William A. Coish. After his graduate studies, Félix Beaudoin worked as a postdoctoral associate and university lecturer at Dartmouth College under the supervision of Prof. Lorenza Viola, where he developed novel quantum-noise characterization protocols in close collaboration with the experimental research group of Prof. William D. Oliver (MIT). Félix Beaudoin joined Nanoacademic Technologies in 2019 as a Research Scientist. Since 2020, he is leading the development of new commercial software for quantum-technology computer-aided design (QTCAD).
